Service Explained

How To Place Your Kilt Hire Order

1.      Have a look at our website at www.highlanddress-hire.co.uk for more details on outfit styles, tartans, cost and upgrading options.

2.      Once you have explored our website you should know more or less the outfit style and tartan you would like to order, as well as having a pretty good idea on how to measure correctly.

3.      All you need to do now is to go through the 5 steps at the top of the web page, these 5 Steps will guide you through the ordering process making sure that all your information is correct.

4.      Then you simply contact us with your order.

How it all Works

1.      Once you have decided on what outfit/s you would like, what sizes you require, the date you require it on and the duration of your hire, simply lets us know

2.      After we have checked the availability of your order, we will contact you to confirm your booking and finalise the rest of your details. This is normally done within 24 hours.

3.      At the time of delivery your outfit/s will be individually packed in a purpose made protective hard case and shipped by next day courier to arrive at your door on the agreed date.

4.      Because each outfit is packed and shipped in it's own protective hard transit box, this will ensure that the outfit or outfits arrive undamaged, uncrushed and ready to wear.

5.      Included along with your outfit will be your invoice, documentation for returning your outfit and hints and tips on how to wear your outfit correctly should you require it.

6.      Once you have finished with your outfit simply repack it back into it's hard case and hand it back to the courier along with the returning documentation.

Highland Outfits in Detail

We have 5 main styles of Highland Dress outfits available for mail order hire, each style can come with either a traditional kilt in a choice of tartans or Black Watch tartan trews (trousers).

The Prince Charlie Outfit

Evening/Formal Wear

Section 4

Measurement Guide

NOTE: When measuring the following basic rules should be followed.

Disregarding these rules may lead to a badly fitting outfit.

1.      You must use a proper tape measure.

2.      Do not attempt to measure yourself, have someone do it for you.

3.      Do not try and read the tape measure as you are being measured.

4.      Stand up straight and natural. Do not slouch or tense your muscles.

Size A - Collar. If you don't already know your collar size then place the measuring tape around your neck at the point where your shirt collar would sit. This size should be very loose giving yourself plenty of room to move. This size should be around 2 inches larger than your actual neck size.

Size B - Chest Size. Hold your arms out about 2 feet from your body, then place the tape measure around your body, just below your armpits. This size should be loose, now add 1.5 inches to your size, this will be your jacket size.

Size C - Arm Length. You can either measure the outside arm length on a good fitting jacket that you may have or run your tape from the top of your arm down to your wrist bone.

Size D - Kilt Waist. This size should be taken over your shirt. Wrap the tape around your body at the point just above your navel, pull the tape very tight then slacken it back until it feels comfortable but very firm. The larger the gent the more the tape will sink into the body, this is normal for if this size is not tight enough the Kilt will start to slip down when moving around.

Size E - Kilt Drop. At the same point as the Kilt waist (size D - just above the navel) measure down to between top of the kneecap and the mid kneecap, this size will be the length of the Kilt.  It is very important that you measure straight down (as photo) and not across the body at an angle.

Size F - Shoe Size. Simply the size of shoe you require.

Size G - Inside Leg.  This is your inside leg measurements for your tartan Trews. This size is optional, Trews can be received un-hemmed and tacked to length by yourself once you try them on.

Size H - Your Height. This is important; it will help us to determine if your Kilt length measurement is accurate.
